Never been more troubled...
Four days ago (FRI), a young China Boy (CB) came to view my Honda Jazz which is up for sale. Now, i must clarify that the only reason i put my jazz up for sale is erm.. is for fun. Coz i know it will never be sold at the price of $13.5k. For ur information, i bought it at $11k. To put it simply, i bought a car a year ago, clocked 21000km on it, done some minor scratches.. and is now, selling it for more than what i ve bought. You must be thinking no one in the right state of mind will buy it. But think again after hearing this...
My Jazz is a 1.5VTEC version, and the lady whom sold it to me had no idea, and sold it to me at the price of a 1.3IDS-I. Now, when i bought the car, it has exhaust muffler, window tint, red leather steering wheel, mugen gear knob, window visor, custom lights etc.. And all these cost alot of money. And the red book state that my car is worth a total of 15.5k at that time. So i supposed the only reason for the cheap sale is the car has been in an accident before. Not that its confirmed, as alot of ppl who came and viewed my car cant tell. But that aside, i had grabbed myself a good deal.
So, back to the main story... This China Boy (CB), came and is very impressed with my car. He is so impressed that he wanted to test drive it the next day. And so, he did. Along with a friend on Sat.. Now, what i didnt realised is that he brought along with him $13.5k in hard cash. What was i suppose to do? i had no intention of selling it! And i did not have the transfer paper at that time. So, i tried to tell him all the bad stuff bout my car. I told him that its expensive, there were better deals out there etc. But it doesnt stop him from trying to buy. I realise its no use, so i told him i did not have the transfer paper, and its no use for him to insist. But this "CB", with alot of determination, said he could go post office and obtained the transfer paper, and it can be done straight away... I was so frustrated that i told him to go home and think twice...
Funny, u will think. I quickly searched for other cars that i can buy. There are FTO GPX, Skylines R33, Mazda 2, Toyota Yaris, Mitxubishi Colt, etc. But then, there is always one car that i always have admired. A Suzuki Swift! Its European design and spirited engine, with high gear ratio and slick precise shifting, superb handling and cornering ability leave my current jazz behind. But thats about all. Jazz is bigger, more spacious, nicer interior, more beng etc. But if i have to sell my car, i reckon that my 2nd car can be a Swift. I can live with a Suzuki Swift. And so the search begins...
Before long, I found one. A metalic blueish black Swift. Its selling for 14.5k. Which is just one thousand more than my jazz. So i rushed to have a test drive, and i liked it. Feels more powerful, refined, and under control. Has more extras than my Jazz too. And so, i ve decided to buy from him.. After some bargaining, the Swift price is reduced from 14.5k, to 13.2k!!
So, a honda jazz 2003 model with 81000km mileage cost 13.5k, and a 2005 suzuki swift with 50000km mileage cost 13.2k. I think the logical step is to buy. There is still one year new car WARRANTY left. And there is a new car smell (sort of.. ). It has sports extras, like sports rims, sports seats, sports steering with audio control... So, not bad i thought.. And a deal was made.
Now, there is just one problem. I haven SOLD my JAZZ!! I quickly phone the CB, who seems less interested now, and offered only 12.5k maximum. Arrggg.. i couldnt believe it. Just when i wanted to sell it!! Damn CB... Raised my hope one moment, and destroyed it the next. I almost said yes. But luckily, i remembered one lady, who in her fifties, is interested in my car. So i rang her up on SAT night, and have her come down to view my car on Sunday morning! I am taking a big risk coz i have to pay $ for the Suzuki Swift , which until then, was of non existance.
She came at 9.30am.. Took a test drive. Like it alot. but said she needed time to consider. I told her i am not selling anymore after 2pm, and that she must be quick if she still wants it. She said to come back at 12pm for an answer. And she did. But still, decisions unmade. She called her cousin to cme down and decide for her. So they took my car for a test drive again. But even after that, decisions were not made.
My heart was pumping so fast it almost burst! i needed her to buy it.. And evetually, after much sweet talking, the car was sold to her for 13.2k... And i required immediate payment, i told her. Which she did, in a way. She returned at 3.30pm with a cheque book, and wrote me a cheque of 7k. This is all i need... All i need for the downpayment of the Swift!
I drove 40km up north, and paid the 7k downpayment for the Suzuki Swift by 5.30pm. ..
So, i hope for now everything is ok. Its too risky! too rush! I cant believe i did such a thing too, not when my thesis progress report is due today (Tue).
Hope the cash cheque works.. And the remaining $ for the Jazz received soon for me to clear it to the Swift...
