Personally, i am a badminton person.. And i love that sport.
But as i progress towards late twenties, somehow that passion has lost
its fire, if you know what i mean...
The reason: Time and people.
Well, to begin with, you will need a court. And it's not easy to get one in Singapore without pre-booking way in advance. And usually those frequent players have all the good timing slot taken up. And did i mention that it is a hassle to book as well? You can only book after certain hours and certain locations and it almost seems like you have to fight for it to secure a court to play.
Secondly, the people. Unlike the people who plays badminton in Perth where everyone is friendly. Most people who played badminton locally have a really arrogant attitute. And not the friendliest i have seen around. I hate to join such groups. It makes you intense and uncomfortable just to be there ..
So, to have a good game, you will need your usual badminton buddies, and everyone needs to be able to make it, and there must be courts available, and someone must be able to secure the court, and buy shuttercocks for the team.
Okay.. Guess my point is this...
As i aged, i begin to find comfort in other sports.
Sure it may not be as exciting and fun as badminton, but hey.. It can be done anytime and it's really easy.
Take for example, a game of golf.
I always have my golf clubs ready in my car boot, so i can always go to the range and work out a sweat, w/o coordinating and looking at nasty people around. It's also a good way to relieve stress and if you go there with a buddy, you can basically chat for hours.
Another example is jogging in a park.
I always find time to take a solo jog along Jurong Park and Chinese Garden at least once a week. The scenic route makes one calm their mind. Besides, jogging burn fats... And i needed to burn lots of it.. haha
Swimming... What better way to exercise all parts of your body w/o stressing too much on my deteriorating joints. Gymming is okay as well. But to me, gymming never has any effect on me before. No muscle built.. Only go there if i has no other alternative..
So, what happens if you mixes it all up?
Well, today i started golf at 3pm, and finishes at 430pm.
Went Jogging in the park at then gym after that.
And i feel like a dead man now...
But hey... it beats spending a whole day lying on the bed watching TV.
And i hope many of you didn't really do that..
haa..
